The long exposure of the film, the inappropriate use of traditional techniques, and the photographic book record gave me a semi-abstract, detached mark that I can understand and relate to. Just like fragments of memory, my creation is wandering between realism and abstraction. From the virtual to the real, the blurred mood I am conveying is highly romanticized, which seems to be a thick dream. In these past two years of the pandemic, many images seem to be far away in my mind, like fading memories. Therefore, with the work 'In Between', I want to capture a specific feeling that might bring me back to my memories of the past in the form of dreamy and hazy images. The blurred parts of the image enhance the temporal latitude of the image. One way for me to perceive time is through decay. I want to create an open shot that is beyond a specific moment in space or time but just presents an image that is vague enough to contain a certain generality. I would love to raise the question of how the world was first perceived and comprehended by the earliest human beings when they started to have their self-awareness: “Is it vague, psychedelic, or real?”      Video
